Route options

01 / T1 FOR YOUR ROUTE

T1 for shipments to, from and through Switzerland

A T1 customs document is used mainly for non-Union goods moving under customs supervision to the customs office of destination.

We prepare T1 declarations for international shipments involving Switzerland. Tell us where the goods are held and where they need to go, including any stops in other countries.

Switzerland is outside the EU customs union. Send the collection and delivery locations, cargo documents and transport mode for each stage. We confirm the customs offices and transit requirements for the route.

02 / DETAILS TO PREPARE

What we need
to prepare your T1

Start with the details below. What else we need will depend on your cargo and route.

Route details

  • Loading and delivery addresses.
  • Known customs offices of departure, transit, and destination.
  • Planned border crossing, if the T1 leg includes one.
  • Planned transport date and carrier details.

Cargo documents

  • Invoice or pro forma describing the goods and their value.
  • Packing list with weight and number of packages, if available.
  • CMR or another transport document, if available.
  • Further goods details if requested.

You do not need to wait until you have every document. Send what you have, and we will let you know what else is needed.

03T1 route scenarios

Where is your cargo
coming from and going to?

We prepare T1 declarations for cargo leaving, entering or passing through the country.

01 / FROM SWITZERLAND

T1 for cargo departing Switzerland

  1. Cargo location in Switzerland
  2. Agreed customs office where transit starts
  3. Customs office of destination in another country

We prepare the T1 declaration for your shipment leaving Switzerland. Send the collection address, destination abroad and cargo documents. We confirm the departure and destination customs offices before preparation.

02 / TO SWITZERLAND

T1 for cargo travelling to Switzerland

  1. Agreed customs office of departure
  2. Route to Switzerland
  3. Customs office of destination in Switzerland

We prepare T1 declarations for cargo travelling to Switzerland from abroad. Send the collection location, Swiss delivery address and transport details so we can identify where transit will start and end.

03 / THROUGH SWITZERLAND

Common transit through Switzerland

  1. Customs office of departure
  2. Route through Switzerland
  3. Customs office in another country

Switzerland participates in Common Transit. We prepare T1 declarations for goods passing through Switzerland on the way to another country. Send the full route and transport modes so we can confirm whether one declaration can cover the journey.

T1 does not necessarily start or end at the border. We confirm the customs offices of departure and destination for your route.

04Scope and terms

T1 service:
cost and conditions

Send us your shipment details.
We confirm the work and price before we start.

What we agree before starting

We review the cargo documents and full route, identify the customs offices and confirm the price. For a journey through Switzerland, include the departure and destination countries as well as the Swiss part of the route.

  • Reviewing your route and cargo documents.
  • Preparing the T1 declaration and arranging the required guarantee.
  • Answering T1 questions and helping with customs requests during transit.

The customs guarantee covers duties and taxes that may become payable if transit requirements are not met. It is not cargo insurance and does not cover loss or damage to the goods.

FOR YOUR SHIPMENT

What to send for a quote

T1 IN SWITZERLAND

Before you request a T1

Ask about your route
Can one T1 declaration cover a route through several countries?

One T1 declaration can cover transit through several countries, depending on the goods, route and guarantee. Send the full route and transport modes so we can confirm which stages the declaration will cover.

Is Swiss national transit the same as T1?

No. Swiss national transit is a separate procedure for movements between Swiss customs offices. This service covers T1 declarations for international routes. Send your collection and delivery locations so we can confirm which procedure applies.

What do I need to prepare for a T1 declaration?

Send an invoice or pro forma invoice, your route and any customs offices you already know. Include the packing list and CMR if available. We will tell you if anything else is needed.

Do rail and road shipments use one T1?

For shipments handled by Transify, we prepare a separate T1 for the rail stage. Tell us which parts of your route use rail and which use road so we can confirm the documents needed.

What affects the price of a T1 declaration?

The starting point, route, guarantee amount, cargo type and number of line items on the declaration all affect the price. We review these details and give you a quote before preparing the T1.
